On International Women's Day, We Honor Nevada's Tradeswomen

Anita Eveland, Apprentice, UA Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 350 in Sparks, Nevada

Thanks to outreach efforts and a growing culture shift, the number of Nevada women choosing careers in the building and construction trades is growing again—and that's a good thing for everyone, from contractors to communities to our women in the workforce and the young women growing up today who see themselves represented on job sites. We're joined forces with building trades organizations across the country to launch a bold initiative this year—#20percentby2020—to increase the number of women in the Northern Nevada building and construction trades from 9% to 20% by 2020. As we work toward that goal, we want to take a moment to see, honor, and extend our thanks to the hundreds of tradeswomen building the New Nevada today. It's by your example that we'll inspire other women at all stages of their education and careers to see a bright, lucrative future in Nevada's growing construction industry.
